Oh my god, that was unbelievably miserable [Dec. 12th, 2006|06:06 am]
I wish I could put into words the fearsome terror that just wracked every nerve in my body for the last 40 minutes. My breathing was shallow and felt labored, I felt a pressure on my chest like a ghostly hand was keeping my ribs compressed. I felt nauseous, I was sweating and crying, and my body was trembling so uncontrollably I had to lie down and thrash around for almost five minutes like a fully-conscious seizure. My brain was blocking out everything except my abject terror. My stomach churned and my mind raced.

My god, I just had a panic attack.

My mom used to tell me about these fits, and I thought she was talking about irrational psychological fear or something. Let me tell you, a real panic attack is so much more terrifying. Take every symptom of every dangerous medical condition from stroke to heart attack to nervous degeneration and roll it all up into a ball, then fill every corner of your body with all of those symptoms ALL AT THE SAME TIME AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING.
I was asleep when it started - I woke up with a sharp intake of breath and my heart beating at a thousand miles an hour...then the dizziness and the panic that is the condition's namesake. Ten minutes later and it's waxed and waned a little, but I was still conscious so that ruled out heart attack and stroke. Next came diarhhea and trembling. Finally the crying, and the indescribably terrifying feeling that if I were to stop manually breathing my brain wouldn't pick up for me when I did. Every breath felt like a conscious effort, even though there was no obstruction or difficulty other than the mental. I called my mom and cried for about half an hour, and now I'm writing this.
It's faded away mostly now, but I still feel a pressure on my chest...heartbeat's fine, so it must be muscle soreness or something.

Has anyone else out there had a panic attack? I've never been more scared.

EDIT: 7:26 am, fully four and a half hours after the initial attack and I still can't sleep. Every time I get within reach of dreaming, my body jolts and wakes me up, like a miniature version of the panic attack I just had. This really, really fucking sucks.

Huh...my shoulder Nabeshin! [Nov. 27th, 2006|04:44 pm]
So, I was digging through piles of old character sheets and papers, trying to decide what to save and what to toss, when I found...

THE COMIC!

Yeah, at Otakon, years ago, [info]aidosaur, my friend Eric, and I all worked on a spontaneous, completely COMPLETELY random collaborative comic, starring Vash the Stampede, Armless Obi-Wan Kenobi, Nabeshin, uhh...Speed Racer...some other folks...anyway, the premise was "draw as much as you feel like and pass it on." We wound up with some spacefaring kuroneko, some excellent, sublime dialogue between the stars, and some fairly unexpected Wookiee/Puchu slash. The first page or so wasn't really intended to be anything continuing, so it's kinda meh, whatever...but after that it gets pretty entertaining.
Anyway, just wanted to remark on that for anyone who wants to see some delightful randomness, I have the original in its entirety. Maybe I'll scan it or something :D
Also, it's Eric's turn. Somebody else needs to pick it up, I think...he kinda ceased to exist or something.

They're crumbelievable! [Nov. 12th, 2006|11:09 pm]
I was hungry!
Then it hit me...Bunny gave me a pack of ramen!
I cooked it, and now I am eating some...it is tasty.
Bunny is great ^_^ <3 <3 <3

Also, those cheese crumbles on tv are looking pretty good...but I think it's only because I saw them on the Colbert Report. I'm pretty susceptible to ad culture, huh? o_o

Do you take it? [Sep. 25th, 2006|10:15 pm]
Youtube link to what is likely a funny music video by the Wet Spots, although I have not yet watched it. I have it from a very reliable source that it is entertaining.
Do you take it?

EDIT: Oh wow, that was dirty...

Well you're adorable, reliable
but is your anus pliable?

Whoa, they changed LJ all around :O [Sep. 15th, 2006|06:24 pm]
This may or may not be of interest to anyone out there, but I'm looking for someone to play Go with...you know, the thousands-of-years-old chinese strategy game. There was someone I was playing with, but he has a habit of falling off the face of the earth for months at a time (not unlike myself).
So...if you're interested, and of a capable-of-playing-Go sort, gimme a call. I'm always up for a game, and it's been about a month since I've had one.
If you don't know how to play and have always wanted to learn, I'd be glad to teach you ^_^

Geek [Jul. 31st, 2006|01:52 am]
This was brought to my attention recently. It is a list of 'Geek Social Fallacies,' or 'pathological' conditions that geeks like myself can suffer from. When I read the list, I sighed, thinking 'Man, I wish a few people in my group would read this.'

You know who I mean ^_^;

Insomnia [Jul. 15th, 2006|05:22 am]
Is anyone else up right now, obsessively checking lj? If so, you should totally call my cell so I have someone to talk to and while away the boredom.
I haven't been able to sleep for about a week now. It's so weird...Here I am typing away, groggy as hell, at 5:25 in the morning, feeling like I'm going to fall asleep on the keyboard like the BST/WAR in my last party.
And yet...as soon as I lie down my mind starts racing and I want to get up again and do more. It flips from Go strategies to my d&d game, then from worries about my job/futurOMG CAT ON FACE BLLAAHGHHPPHLHL.
I think it might be linked, at least a little, to my allergies...these cats like sticking their asses on my face when I'm not paying attention and leaving little clumps of fur and cat-smell on my pillow.
Ah well...time to try again. Gotta start walking tomorrow so I have some degree of exercise.

Oh, I got my job back, huzzah and all that. What a load of bull that was :P

To the tune of Fullmetal Alchemist [Jul. 4th, 2006|12:50 am]
Someone said to me recently, 'You know, John, it seems like a lot of your friends are only around when they need something, then as soon as they feel better they stop calling again."
I thought about this. While I think this is an exaggeration, and somewhat pretentious, there is a certain ring of truth to it. There are definitely people who hang around long enough for me to help them, then fade into obscurity.
Anyway, what I took away from all this is that I'm actually helpful to these people. Boo-ya! Go me. =^_^=

Heh.

Woohoo Futurama!
...
Officially, on a separate link, I learned that 13 new episodes - starring the complete original cast - are coming to Comedy Central ETA unknown.

Hmm...as long as I'm throwing links around, here's me in a cult-recruitment video for an independent film I've become involved in: Ratred Movie

Whoa... [Jun. 25th, 2006|02:38 pm]
You scored as Neo, the "One". Neo is the computer hacker-turned-Messiah of the Matrix. He leads a small group of human rebels against the technology that controls them. Neo doubts his ability to lead but doesn't want to disappoint his friends. His goal is for a world where all men know the Truth and are free from the bonds of the Matrix.

Angelbutt [Jun. 22nd, 2006|02:29 am]
You scored as Angel. Angel: Angels are the guardians of all things, from the smallest ant to the tallest tree. They give inspiration, love, hope, and positive emotion. They live among humans without being seen. They are the good in all things, and if you feel alone, don't fear. They are always watching. Often times they merely stand by, whispering into the ears of those who feel lost. They would love nothing more then to reveal themselves, but in today's society, this would bring havoc and many unneeded questions. Give thanks to all things beautiful, for you are an Angel.

Hmm. [Jun. 19th, 2006|01:35 pm]
Scientology always kind of skeeved me out before today, but now I've watched something that makes me overtly worried.
I'm pretty certain a lot of this can't be taken as fact, but to even consider that any of this is true is fairly chilling.
The Unfunny Truth of Scientology
It's housed on a site that generally is filled with generic humor and strange viral internet videos ala Hamsterdance, so take from it what you will.

CEO takes 9999 damage! CEO has been defeated. [May. 21st, 2006|12:00 pm]
I've never been one to take sides in the supposed 'console war,' but every once in awhile a company will do something so goddamn stupid that I'm forced to admit that some companies are indeed doing better than others at keeping gamers happy.

Sony E3 conference in 1 minute

It's a funny way of organizing it, but this video showcases all of Sony's highlights from E3 fairly accurately.
What the fuck, Sony...you fail at life. You fail at games. You have let down legions of fans and every person working for your company that is going to be laid off when nobody pays SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS for your plagiaristic PS3.

Nintendo fanboy flags enabled. Sony deleted.
Microsoft...ehhhhh...gotta show me something cool that I can't get on the PC.

Fable 2! [May. 12th, 2006|12:48 pm]
In reading Ign.com's E3 reports, I came across an interview with Fable creator Peter Molyneux. To give some background: Molyneux was solely responsible for the direction of the game, and will be again with Fable 2. During the development of the first Fable, Molyneux talked up a lot of key features of Fable like multiplayer gameplay, xbox live support, female and male player characters, and high-definition video. As you may know if you played Fable, none of these things made it into the final version, making some gamers very angry with Molyneux.
Thus, I was delighted to see this at the end of the interview:
quoted from www.ign.com

[With regards to actual information on Fable 2's features] Unfortunately, like pretty much every other question asked, nothing was confirmed. Molyneux himself acknowledged his dodgy answers. "I've been very clever. I haven't answered a single question really, I've just danced around the houses," he said.

Totally tooting his own horn, there.

EDIT: Forgot to mention... Ign's PC section has another video of Will Wright's Spore in action, and it looks a lot more polished than the last demo. Yay fungus!

He's-a one bad-a mother... [May. 6th, 2006|11:43 am]
So this page has some videos of the new Super Mario Bros game being released on the 15th (got myself a fully-paid preorder...ain't nobody getting my copy) and it is pretty slick. It pulls off looking like the classic NES/SNES Super Mario Bros games, side-scrolling, turtle-stomping, mushroom-eating action off pretty well and has a few new technological tricks from the DS's hardware.
Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool when I watched the first video in the list...Mario runs through Bowser's castle, reaches the final confrontation, knocks him into the lava, and you watch Bowser struggling to get out of the blazing pit as the flesh agonizingly melts from his body leaving a smoking skeleton to sink into the magma. Holy ****. When did Mario games get so gruesome?
If you consider yourself a Mario fan you should check it out. It's eerie.
